“You see us as you want to see us, in the simplest terms and most convenient definitions.”
The Breakfast Club
If I were to define myself, in the simplest of terms and using the most convenient definition, it would be “teacher”. The word itself can hold many meanings to you personally, but to me, it embodies my strongest and most desired passions.
I believe in the power of influence that literature can have, seeing as I am still waiting for my Hogwarts acceptance letter…literature also has the ability to form our identity through the processes of critical analysis of the world around us and the ways in which we choose to interact with it.
It is both a blessing and a curse to love what you do so intently. I am a martyr to my cause and know that every student who steps inside of my class will leave having new and hopefully rewarding experiences and revelations. In the wise words of my favourite fictional teacher, Mr. Feeny,
“Believe in yourselves. Dream. Try. Do good.”
Never lose sight of what truly matters as educators, which is the well-being and growth of our students.
